I'm Marc Pope — an AI developer and infrastructure veteran based in North Carolina. For 30 years I've lived where software meets servers: writing code, running fleets of Linux machines, architecting cloud platforms, and helping engineering and executive teams make sense of all of it.
By day, I'm an enterprise solutions engineer — leading technical discovery, demos, and proof-of-value engagements with mid-market and Fortune-level teams. Nights and weekends are where the tinkering happens: building AI-powered systems, developer tooling, and open-source software, and researching whatever's coming next.

Full-stack before it had a name
Built CRM/ERP systems, e-commerce platforms, and an in-house payment pipeline for a $100M consumer business — then led product for venture-backed SaaS, growing platforms over 1,000% annually with international agile teams.
Co-built a managed hosting company
Designed the automation platform, ran hundreds of Linux servers and 1,000+ hosted properties worldwide, operated MySQL at scale, and led the engineering team — with 99.9%+ uptime across the fleet.

I build and maintain Borg Backup Server — an open-source enterprise backup platform with 300K+ downloads and 215+ GitHub stars. Deduplicated encrypted backups, database-aware restores, S3 offsite sync, SSO, and a REST API, all behind a clean UI.

Since 2013 my family has fostered rescue dogs and cats, and I've photographed over 1,000 shelter animals for adoption profiles. I also serve on the board of a local arts-based school, helping with marketing and technology.
